LED FAQ
What is LED?
LED (Light Emitting Diode) globe or fittings are super energy efficient compared to a Halogen or Fluorescent lamp, using approximately 85% less energy than most light fittings. Replacing all light globes to LED means significant saving on your electricity bills.
What is Lumens?
Lumens (denoted by lm) is a measure of the total brightness of a globe or fitting. The higher the lumens, the brighter the globe will appear.
How many Lumens do I need to light up my space?
There is no accurate answer. It all depends on a number of factors including, room size, ceiling height, colour scheme, type of lamp or fitting & needs of the user.
What is Colour Temperature?
Correlated Colour Temperature (CCT) in lighting describes how the colour of the light appears from a lamp, measured in kelvins (k).
Image a scale of 2,700k (Warm White) to 6,500k (Daylight). The higher up the scale you go, the closer the light will change in colour. Colour Temperature does not describe the actual temperature of the lamp itself. However, the higher the colour temperature the “cooler” a lamp will look.
What Colour Temperature do I use to light up my space?
There is no accurate answer. It all depends on the mood of the area & the colour scheme.
Can LED be dimmed?
Most of Mirabella’s LED globe range are not dimmable. On all of our globe packaging we promote if the globe is dimmable or non-dimmable, with our own symbol.
